Last-Minute Gift: DIY Embellished Scarves!
Before I sign off for Christmas "vacation" and family time, I wanted to share a great last-minute gift for those of you who are still looking for a little something! Embellished accessories are really my go-to for a last minute gift at any time of year! It's such a quick and easy project that crafters of any skill level can do. A store-bought item with a handmade touch! Just pick up a simple, inexpensive scarf (mine came from my bedroom, the Dollar tree and Walmart)...
And have fun searching your craft stash for pretty embellishments! I didn't buy any for mine, just used this and that from my studio. You can machine or hand stitch them on and in some cases probably just hot glue. (I won't tell if you don't!)
Like handmade silk rosettes:
Stretchy sequins by the yard: (This stuff belongs on everything.)
Colorful poms: (also from the Dollar Tree, FYI!)
Vintage and thrifted trims:
Crocheted flowers: (via my mom, I don't crochet, sadly!)
Felt circles: (t-shirt knit would work, too!)
And crocheted snowflakes: (also via my mom...thanks, mom!)
Doesn't that look fun?? Those are only a start of all the possibilities! Seriously, go look in your stash, there is something amazing in there for your scarf. Or hat, or gloves, or tote bag! Knit scraps turned into stripes? Rick rack stitched on? Buttons? Get creative!
One little thing to remember when embellishing scarves is to match the fabric weight/type. It doesn't have to be the exact same fabric of course, but a heavy embellishment might not suit a lightweight pashmina whereas a thick wool scarf might look great with it.
Merry Christmas, friends!!
I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful holiday weekend and I hope your Christmas day is the best one yet. :o)
Love,
Disney
