Thank God! (literally)
When I was a kid I used to think it was fun to try to follow the historical trail of an object until I found its original, organic source. I would think about how my story book used to be plain white paper, which used to be wood shavings, which used to be a tree, which came from a tiny seed, planted by its maker. Call me a twisted kid, but it was fun for me.
Why am I bringing that up on Thanksgiving? I guess my point is that when I think of all the things I'm thankful for, I can't help but think of God. Of course I am thankful to many people for things that they do, but sooner or later when I break things down, God is the origin of everything good in my life. Even the people I'm thankful to are the work of his hands.
Thankfulness is a big deal in our house. And to be honest, I have so much to be thankful for that it brings me to the point of uncomfortableness almost daily. Of course I'm happy to have God's blessings, but why do I have them and not others? I don't deserve that, friends. And my heart is compelled to do something in return, something for others, but I'm truly not sure what to do exactly. And every day that I don't do something I feel a great uneasiness.
I'm just rambling now. :o)
Mostly I just want to say thank you to God. Every day, and a little extra today. Thank you for my ridiculously luxurious life. Thank you for my pampered upbringing with two parents that loved me. Thank you for my healthy family. Thank you for my blog and all the friends I've gotten to know through it. Most of all, thank you for allowing me to know about you, which is my greatest pleasure in life. I won't waste it.
And thank you to all of you who stop by and read and make my day with a little comment. I hope you know how much it means to me! And I hope you all enjoy obscene amounts of delicious foods today and some very special time with your family.

Although we do not celebrate Thanksgiving in my country, I'm familiar with your tradition. I think that saying forgive me and thank you are the most powerful feelings that humans can give each other.

Hi Disney, I have several blogs on my Google Reader and enjoy them all but there are three that I absolutely LOVE and yours is one of them. I never just look at your photos but read you post as well. I may not leave a comment 100% of the time but please know that I am reading your blog and enjoying it so much. And that Paige of yours is just too adorable. Happy Thanksgiving.

You are such an inspiring person, Disney! I don't know you in person, but I wish that I did and that your love for service could rub off on me. I find that I'm often very selfish and focused more on myself than on what other people need. Thanks for the reminder that all blessings come from God. I needed that today. :)
ReplyDeleteSo true, and so well put. I hope it will be said that I didn't waste it either : ) Happy Giving Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are an uplifting blogger (that I have been silently following for about a year) and a good example. I love reading about your life and your crafts and seeing you be such a good witness really makes me smile. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiring post Disney :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely reminder to be grateful and aware of our blessings. Was not having the best of days today but feel so such clearer and refreshed after reading your post. I totally agree with Kaity's comment that you are an uplifting blogger, and might I add that it is clear that God's light truly shines through you, and through your blog :)
Much love, Emma from Australia xx
Excellent words, Disney! God is good. Like you said, we don't know why God blesses some, and not others, but I believe He often chooses to bless those who are willing to pour out those blessings on others, rather than keeping them for themselves. Thank you for using your blog to share God's love and mercy and hope with others. :) Blessings to you and yours, sweet lady!
ReplyDeleteWell said! I agree, and it's so nice to see a lovely person such as yourself sharing your thoughts. I enjoy your blog immensely.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you & your family!

Amen! How True! I to am so grateful to My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! He gave me the wonderful free gift of salvation! How tremendously blessed I am. I am very glad to know that you too look to Him and give Him the glory! Happy Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteYou're always an encouragement to so many, myself included. I have felt so blessed by the Lord, both physically and spiritually, that I, too, feel guilty for not doing more. Thanks for being a light--you (and your family) do a lot for Christ.
