Putting up Our Christmas Decor!
I love Thanksgiving.
I also love the day after Thanksgiving, because that's when it's officially acceptable to start obsessing about Christmas! yay!! I'd like to say that we set up our Christmas decorations on Friday, but truthfully, we set it up a couple of weeks ago. I was trying to hide it from everyone, turning the lights off before it gets dark so that people couldn't see them through the window from the streets. :O) It was kind of fun knowing that I was living a secret life of holly jolliness. Heh heh heh...
But now it's after Thanksgiving and all bets are off, so they lights are staying on. I thought I'd share a few photos from the evening that we set everything up. It's one of my favorite family traditions that we have. We make sure that we're all there, we put on Christmas music and drink hot chocolate (the dairy free, agave nectar kind) and bring out all the sparklies! Our christmas decor is pretty traditional, mostly golds, whites and silvers. I like Christmas to look fancy like that. Although I have to admit, when I see all the trendy Christmas trees and home decor that some of the bloggers out there are doing, I get so excited! I love the hipster Christmas. (I'm just not sure I want it in all my photos years later...)
Anyway. Have you decorated yet? Are you planning too?
Have a great weekend! I hope your stomach is recovering nicely from turkey day. :o)
Love,
Disney
P.S. Did you go shopping on Friday? The only store we have in town for black friday shopping is Walmart. (boo) It was a hut house, you guys. Nut. House. We didn't really get anything, we just like walking around and getting excited about Christmas. :o) It was kinda fun.
I'm thinking you need to give a tutorial on your beautiful spot light photos. How do you DO THAT? Gorgeous display. I too put up the tree before Thanksgiving. <3
ReplyDeleteI agree! LOVE the Christmas light pictures!
DeleteOh, it's so easy! Just focus on something near your camera (I just held my hand in front of my lens) with the lights in the background and take the picture. The lower the f-stop (aperture) the more of a bokeh effect you'll get.
DeleteLove your photos!!

Love your pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you change out the art above your couch? It's gorgeous and so wintery! Wondering if you leave it up all year ... considering where I live, it would be pretty "in season" all year!
ReplyDeleteYes, I did! It's from Target. I think I will leave it up all year, it's pretty neutral. And I love winter!
DeleteWe put some up today. We live in a small apartment so I've got a Rudolph door cover, a tiny hot pink tree, and two tubs for storage covered in winter fleece throws. It's not much, but it's fun. I went shopping Thursday night/Friday morning and my best finds were all at Kohl's. I love that store.
ReplyDeleteIt cut out of my comment, but I also love your stocking holders with the letters :) I cannot find a Q anywhere!
Deletelove love love your christmas decorations! i really love the wreath on the mirror! happy holidays! xo
ReplyDeleteOurs were up before Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the decorations, especially the stockings! : ) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWe're doing a homemade Christmas tree this year, with popcorn, cranberries, dough ornaments, and those lovely paper chains the kids love to make. I can't wait to get started!
ReplyDeletePopcorn!! I can't believe I didn't think of that. I wanted something different on the tree this year-that would be perfect.
DeleteSo fun!!! Check out 100percentmadebyme.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And I love the bokeh. Maybe I'll get that down this year.
ReplyDeleteAre those sweater slippers a diy? I've been wanting to try my hand at making something like that. They are super cute, and very cozy looking!
ReplyDeletesadly, no, just a costco splurge last year. They are really comfy though!
Deletehmmm... I'll have to keep an eye out for something like them. The look amazingly comfy!
DeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour home is so beautiful Disney!! The wall color is really lovely with your Antiques sign and furniture and accessories. What is the art in the big white matted frame in your living room?
ReplyDeleteIt's just a picture frame that I got on Target clearance 8 years ago(wow). I hot glued small silk ranunculus flowers to the outside in a square shape. I'll have to show a better picture of it sometime!
DeleteThese pictures are so, so pretty! Really lovely photography! And I love those slippers. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! The slippers are from Costco. Love them!
DeleteBeautiful! I'm way late starting my decorating. Normally I'm a Friday morning after Thanksgiving kinda gal. Thanks for the inspiration and gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteI love gold and white Christmas decor! You are seriously so creative and inspiring! Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteNo, thank you!!
DeleteAbsolutely love that you've had your decos up for two weeks and been hiding the fact from your neighbours. I made my front door wreath 3 weeks ago and so badly wanted to hang it but it was just too early. The minute I saw a neighbour up on his roof fooling with lights (possibly not even Christmas lights!) that wreath was on the door faster than you can say "whaddya mean you don't celebrate Christmas from mid-October". LOVE your bokeh Christmas light photos too.
ReplyDeletehaha! awesome. I'm really trying not to care what people think when it comes to that kind of stuff...tough habit to break! :o)
