Paige's Real Life Story Book!
Last year I shared a story that I wrote and illustrated for Paige. (Here's the tutorial on how to make your own if you missed it!) It was just one of those spur of the moment ideas that I had as I was putting her to bed one night.
Well, I finally got around to having it printed in a photo book! I contacted Shutterfly to see if they would be interested in giving me a book since I'd be sharing it with all of you. They said yes! (yes!) and we finally got it in the mail a couple of days ago! It turned out so beautifully. Seriously. I loved it so much that I called my mom. It was a little pathetic.
Here's a glimpse!
I love the photo of us on the back. :o)
At the risk of sounding horribly conceited--isn't that the coolest thing ever?!?! I have to admit, when I look at it, I'm a little amazed that I made it. Seeing it in a real book form is just unbelievable. It's definitely something to hold on to and treasure. :o)
As I said in my tutorial, anyone could do this! You definitely don't have to be an artist (I'm definitely not!) and you could even just make little stick figures to go with a story. Or regular photos! It makes such a special gift for a child.
Shutterfly makes all kind of photo books in sizes ranging from 5"x7" (wouldn't that be cute??) to 12"x12", which is what mine is. They have great templates already available, but you can customize to the moon and back to make your own. Mine was really simple, but you could go crazy with all kinds of fun details. They have wedding books, baby books, yearbooks, vacation books, story telling books. TONS of options.
Hope you're having a great weekend, everyone! Can you believe it's JUNE??
Love you,
Thank you SO much for sharing this!! I've had a dream of illustrating a book for my daughter so that her future teacher can read it to the class lol. This makes half of this absolutely possible. And it IS totally awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest thing! I'd love to do this when I have children!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's June either. I was just thinking the same thing!
this is so very amazing Disney! I am in still in awe. Your daughter is going to cherish this forever. So wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great book. Paige will have it for the rest of her life and always have the wonderful memories with her mommy.
ReplyDeleteEven if you are "not an artist," you really have a knack for expressive pictures! This is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYour book turned out perfectly amazing! I have done a bunch of the Shutterfly books for different family members (with photos), but now I really want to try a hand-drawn book. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love your book! And your illustrations are darling! I need to do this. My older daughter made a storybook for my little one just out of printer paper and photos and it is showing a lot of wear. It is about how Ahnalin joined our family from China, through her big sister's eyes. I should have it printed up like yours! Thank you for showing yours.
ReplyDeleteThis book is adorable! Thinking of doing one for my granddaughter. You are such an insperation to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO sweet! Thank you for sharing all your fantastic ideas! I've been following for a couple years (i think about that long). Anyway, I've never left a comment before ... but after reading your post the other day about blogging I want you to know you've inspired me through the years and I have copied your creations for my own girls. So keep it up girl! Even if you don't get a comment from me (and others) you really are inspiring us to get crafty and create awesome memories with our little ones. So, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable, and something she'll have forever! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it!!! She is a lucky little lady to have such a talented momma! I want to make one for my daughter and have my husband draw the pictures. (He's so much better). Then it would be from the both of us. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is ADORABLE -- and you gave me a great idea for publishing a children's book with a manuscript that was published in a children's magazine but won't be accepted by a publisher (URGH). And you are definitely an artist! If I tried to draw my own pictures, kids would laugh their heads off.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing! Great job with the book...I mean, you did a great job with the first one so seeing this one from Shutterfly is even better. What a wonderful memory for Paige to cherish!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely. Cute and funny. The drawings are simple yet so expressive. A real pa(i)ge-turner!
ReplyDeletethat's so cute! we made a photo book for our "guestbook" at the wedding- it was a hit! and shutterfly always has great promotions running!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. you really know how to express feeling with the characters and I love the hair and color scheme. Such a beautiful gift from mother to child...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE shutterfly! Since I no longer have as much time, or space, to do regular scrapbooking, I use shutterfly to make scrapbooks for my children. I take all of my photos from the previous year (uploaded monthly) and make them a book. I make one per calendar year for each child. I put them out at their birthdays so people can look though them. When they are grown they will have their very own scrapbook library/photo albums.
ReplyDeleteThis is just about the cutest thing ever! I love that you made something to really capture this special time with Paige so she can have it forever.

ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! I love writing short stories so I definitely look into doing something like this! It is darling!
ReplyDeleteI love love love your book so much! I've had your original post bookmarked so that I can someday make my own. Paige is such a lucky little girl!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that is so FUN! I wrote my niece a story when she was a toddler and always meant to have it turned into a book, but never got around to adding drawings. She's eight now... maybe I'll have her help me illustrate it as a summer project for us both. I feel inspired - Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I was wondering what format you uploaded each page/image to Shutterfly? Did you use the full page template to avoid conflict with their designs?
