My Version of the Vintage Frock
I realized that I totally forgot to share this dress that I made for myself using the Vintage Frock tutorial.
I had this thrifted silk tank in my repurpose pile. I love the color and feel of the fabric, but it was really short and too wide. So I took in the side seams and added the elastic waistband (from those suspenders) and skirt just like I did with Paige dress in the tutorial.
If you missed it, here's a photo of Paige's:
A couple of you asked if it would work for an adult, so here's the proof! You could use just about any blouse on the top. My only word of advice would be to make your elastic a little smaller than you normally would. Mine lost a little elasticity when I sewed the skirt on so it is a little loose on me. Beans.
I really hope this inspires you to make your own version. It was so easy, I promise!! In fact, my skirt was made with two non-fraying fabrics so it was super quick.
Here's to the beginning of a wonderful week!
Love,
Disney
Love your style Disney! Also loving the mummy and Paige love heart <3

ReplyDeleteYes! I have two lovely blouses with Peter Pan collars that I bought but haven't worn (it's been a year now) as they are too short and a little too wide. Thanks for the reminder. So glad I didn't clear them out with my winter clean up last week.

ReplyDeleteLove it! Both outfits look good on you and Paige. You make things sound so easy but I know they aren't ;) Anyway, the tips you give are priceless!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute! And the opportunities for embellishment and tweaking are endless with this dress. It would be adorable with a either a longer skirt to make it a maxi dress, or a short one to make it flirty. Thank you for the inspiration Disney!
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit. I love the orange and yellow. Lately I've been a bit smitten with orange. It's not a color I've been drawn to in the past.

If I saw you on the street, I would probably scream, and ask you for your autograph. you are so famous in the blogging world, I think you are amazing.
ReplyDeleteyou are rocking that color combo!
ReplyDeleteIt's something my complexion and hair color can't pull off (or so all the fashion magazines and mirrors tell me), but I still love it. It's fun to see other people wear yellow & orange tones and look great in them.

Oh. my. gosh! you look so absolutely totally ADORABLE in those photos Disney!!! I didn't even know it was you at first cuz it looked like it was pulled off Anthropologie or something!?!

This is lovely! I adore the colors and the cute floral wallpaper, too!
ReplyDeleteI like the orangy feel of your pictures! Every colour blends in perfectly with the next...
ReplyDeleteAre you a tall one? My mother has always made me ve-ry clear that I should stay away from ankle-length apparel -accentuating my short and plumpy hobbitness and such. But your ankle-length copy does suggest a lengthy stature!
I am in love with your blog! You are so talented. I want to try everything you post. lol Did you make that blue stripe dress Paige is wearing in the picture with you? She's adorable!
ReplyDeleteVintage and flocks are fun. What a nice combination on the colors, the tone really look good on you. These tutorials are really helpful, don't you think?Such a cute apparel, I'm be making it too:)
