Simple Projects Week: Rosette Shirt!
Hello! Happy Friday, everyone! Today for Simple Project Week I'm sharing this simple circle rosette shirt alteration. (Phew! What a name!)
I was hesitant to share this for Simple Project Week because it is not as quick as some of the other projects, but I loved it so much that I just had to. And technique-wise it is extremely simple-a beginner should have no problem with it! (I hope!)
All you need is a plain tee and some coordinating knit scraps! (Nylon chiffon is optional)
- Cut a bunch of circles in three different sizes and various colors. Use old t-shirt scraps if you have them!
- Pin the circles to your shirt, smallest on top:
- Sew them to your shirt in an X shape.
That's it!
How easy is that?? I love it with this high waisted skirt I picked up at a thrift store recently:
But more often than not, I'll probably be wearing it like this:
To make it a truly simple and (quick) project, try starting with just a row around the neckline! I didn't think to show a picture of this before I sewed my rosettes on, so please excuse the crude Photoshopped example...you get the idea, right? :o)
Tip: You may want to place them even more close together than I did. When wearing your shirt the design stretches a bit; I thought I'd accommodated for that, but I wish I would have made them a teeny bit closer.
I hope you try it! It's a fun one to do, and I really love mine. :O) Or at least I did until I had to edit a million photos of myself in it and then wonder what the rest of the world will think of it...hmm. :o)
Have a great Friday! Our week of simple projects is almost done! I hope you've enjoyed it-I know I have.
Love,
Disney

ReplyDeleteYou know how you were pondering the big question of self-worth/greatness a few days ago? You just can't see your ripple (ruffle?) effect: you so selflessly share your creativity and inspire others of us who like to make, but are more likely to find our inspiration in another artist's work than have the brilliant brainstorm ourselves. Thank you for sharing your beautiful ideas. Your beauty spreads beyond what you can ever see.
that is so cute. I want to do it.

I love this idea Disney. I love the idea of rosettes but sometimes they stick out too far from the shirt, which for whatever reason makes me conscious of them. So this idea will be perfect for me.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You are just adorable and your ideas never cease to amaze me. Thanks for sharing.
ohhhh, this is adorable...I will be tackling this for sure!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm picturing this done with tulle or organza or even as is and then snipped between the stitching so it fray/curl up like petals.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteI like it very muck! Colors are beautiful mixed with this t-shirt! I will do it on my dress..
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I so have to do this for my three girls. All the kids need clothes right now and this is a cheap way to make cheap t-shirts cute. Totally putting this on my to do soon list. Stars would be super cite for Christmas too. Oh the possibilities!

ReplyDeleteI love it! Very sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I really love it.
ReplyDeleteoh what a fantastic idea! I've seen it where you fold the smaller circles into "triangles," and then sew 4 of those close together on top of the circles for a fuller look, but this is so cute and LOTS easier. I will be doing this TODAY! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! Absolutely gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and simple! I am a jeans and t-shirt girl for sure. This would be a nice way to "dress it up".
ReplyDeleteI collect WAY too many fabric scraps... guess I'll be making WAY too many rosette shirts! This is too cute :)
