Something For My Punkin
Paige LOVES books. And the other night as I was lying in bed, I thought how fun it would be to write a little book for especially for her! I hopped out of bed and typed up the story in just a few minutes and the next day I drew illustrations for it. Now I'm just adding some finishing touches in Photoshop. It's SO much fun! I'll share the book when I'm finished, but here's a sneak peak:

To this:
At first I was wishing that I had a more artistic friend to do the illustrations for it (...I never said I was a sketch artist.) but then I realized that having mommy's goofy drawings would make it just that more special. I think she'll like it. :O)
I'll share the how-to later for those who have photoshop (it's really simple), but even if you just have crayons and paper, making a little book for your child(ren) is such a fun and silly little project. You should give it a try!
I love the idea, in fact I love all your ideas. She'll love it. A special book created just for her by her mom.
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute, Disney! It's a brilliant idea! I have made a book for my friend, sans illustrations though :)
ReplyDeleteJust brilliant!!! When I was young, mummy made the same for me. Now I'm 31 and I still have this lovely book ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou always have so cute ideas... I love your blog!!!
Have a nice day ;-)
I have made stories for my girls- now realizing I need to include pictures- their first year in kindergarten, at 4, I made a story for all the kids in the kindergarten, making it personal for each one - the boy interested in dinos got a story about dinos, and so forth-had so much fun. Tone
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! And I do think you're a great artist! These drawings are just perfect!

That's such a wonderful idea. It looks like it will be really cute when it's finished. I can't wait to have kids. You give me so many good ideas.
ReplyDeleteCant wait for the finish product!! xx
ReplyDeleteThat is really cute. And it would make a great gift too (until I have babies of my own :D).
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law did something similar to this for my kids and they LOVE them! Great idea. I blogged about them here: http://fastdaze.blogspot.com/2010/11/personalized-kids-books.html
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am a digital art major, and I once had to make a comic book. I ended up using the pen tool in illustrator and it worked great too, after I established the characters, most of the time I could copy and paste then just tweak a few things here and there. What a great I idea! I'm totally going to make some books for my kids now too! Where are you planning on getting it bound?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS! We don't have kids yet, but I am definately archiving your how-to for the future when it comes up. I'm studying to be a reading specialist, so I think this is especiallly fantastic! :)
ReplyDeletei've never thought about using photoshop for something like this -- great idea! she's going to love it! :)
ReplyDeleteWIN!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! Such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's that much better that it's your own illustrations than someone else's. I'm sure she'll love it!
ReplyDeleteYour illustrations are adorable! You are multi-multi talented for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! My daughters are always making books, my 4 year old will bring us a stack of pictures, request that we staple them, and tell us what to write or ask how to spell things. One of these days I should make one for them!
ReplyDeleteDisney, this is the cutest thing I've ever seen a Mom do, and I love blooging, so you know I've seen a lot!! :) Definitely going to 'star' this post so some day down the road I can remember to do one for my little ones when they come! :)

That's Better. Improving Life Every Day!
I love it! It looks just as professionally drawn as most greeting cards (I was going to say comic strips and then realized I haven't seen a comic strip in years).
ReplyDeleteI love this and cannot wait for the how-to. I am very new to photoshop (I have never used it!) but am wanting to learn how to do stuff just like what you have here. Yeah! thank yoU!
ReplyDeleteLast year I found out that there is beautiful world of creative people. You are one of those who are makeing great impact on me. Thank you. I've just started bloging, but I hope that you'll sneak a peak when my blog becomes little bigger.
ReplyDeleteThis is soo fun and cute! What are you talking about "goofy drawings"? You are such an awesome mom. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable and unique. I love it and your cute drawings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! I love to read your how-to and maybe do the same for my daughter who also loves books.
ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic! Love your drawings! My 4yr old loves hide and seek too, especially under the table. She thinks it hilarious when I pretend I can't find her, even though she tells me where she is going to hide! :)
ReplyDeleteWow what a great idea! I have a 3 year old daughter and she loved hearing the story, I might have to make something like this for her. :-) oh and I love your drawings.
