God Bless America! (My New Pants)
Just a quick photo to say.....
Altering pants = a good thing.
Dressing like an American flag? Not such a good thing.
Where was my stylist at this photo shoot? Oh yeah, I don't have one.

If you've never tried trimming up your pants like this, give it a shot! If you have skinny pants that fit, use those as a guide by laying them on top of your wider leg trousers (with both pairs of pants inside-out) to mark where you need to sew along the sides of the legs.
If you don't have any skinny pants that fit, just try on your trousers inside out and pin around your leg in a comfortable way. I recommend sewing with a basting stitch the first time around in case you need to take out the seams and adjust them. (Which I did 2 or 3 times, haha.)
Have a great Tuesday!

You are so cute and crafty! LOVE the jeans!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a little much on a regular day, but I think this outfit is darling for Memorial Day or the Fourth!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I need to try it already. I'm just a little intimidated, I guess. And I love your outfit.

That outfit will be perfect for the 4th of July ;). Question? Which seam did you sew up? The inseam or the outside seam?
ReplyDeletedid the waist of your pants already fit well, and you just took in the leg? i have a pair that i really want to alter, but they are altogether too big. i will have to take down the waist too and that intimidates me a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit! I think it's cute, not just for 4th of July but a normal day too!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to do this to my jeans, but wasn't brave enough. Now I feel like I could do it!
ReplyDeleteCinnamon: I sewed up both sides of each leg, but if you're just going to do one, I would choose the inner seam where it's less noticable.
ReplyDeleteSarah: These pants already fit me on to., I'd be a little intimidated to try that, too!
You have the perfect figure to pull of this outfit and your newly crafted skinny pants. Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteAnd the outfit is so perfect for Memorial Day weekend and/or 4th of July weekend. I love it.
SO cute. and the patriotic gear is kinda awesome. I feel inspired to repurpose some pants right now. :)
ReplyDeletethose are soooo cute! I think I may do that to some maternity pants since that is waht i will be wearing and I don't want to go buy a handful of maternity skinnies. Thanks Dis!!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea!
ReplyDelete(By the way, did you happen to get a haircut or is it just all behind your back? because it looks really cute!)
Oh, haha, yeah, it does look like a haircut! Just behind my back, though. I'm seriously overdue for a trim though! I've been thinking about getting serious bangs. If I could only convince my husband. :O)
ReplyDeleteDressing like an american flag is classic! Great job reusing pants, I hate getting rid of good stuff!
ReplyDeleteSince your pants are 'new' I would love if you took the time to join my link up, 'something new.'
Hope I see you!!

I think it's okay to wear red, white, and blue not on the 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteHey Disney!
ReplyDeleteI just had to stop by and say I am so happy you're blogging again! You are so talented!
happy crafting!
Linda
Clever as always! You remind me that I should take a pre picture of my re-do's, Im always in a hurry to start a new project. With warmth /Therese
ReplyDeleteI have wondered how to do this, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteso clever!!!
ReplyDeletelove how they look! And I actually am fond of red white and blue-ish...but maybe that's because I was born on flag day! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the red and white stripes with blue pants! I actually just donated a bag of old pants because they were too baggy ... didn't even think of altering them! Although they also had a case of the droopy butt, not sure I'm up to trying to fix that.
ReplyDeleteI think the "American Flag Outfit" looks fine for casual days. It's got a nautical feel -- great for the park or boating, or errands on sunny afternoons.

These look so good! I just love your posts; I've used some of your tutorials and they're fantastic.

Looks good! I need to try this when I get sewing machine :)
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about doing this to a pair of jeans. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI think your outfit looks great. It has a nautical feel.
I just did this to a pair of jeans and they came out STELLAR! They are now my sexy 'date night' jeans. Thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteAlida: Hot dog!! Perfect in light of a certain upcoming event :o)
