Small Hearts Can Do Big Things!
Do any of you have this sweater from Old Navy? I really like it, but it has that hot pink-y, fushia colored heart that I've never been able to get past. I don't know why, but that weird color of pink just irks me. Ya know? So anyway, after months of avoiding this sweater, I finally did something about it.
And now I "LOVE" it--haha!
I'm hilarious.
(P.S. It's NOT orange! Silly camera. It's light peach.)
I feel kind of silly writing a post about this, but for some reason this little tiny change brought me all kinds of happiness! I even wore it two days in a row afterwards. (Don't tell!) And besides, I needed an excuse to talk to you guys. :O)
How did I do it? Just how it looks! I traced the heart with tracing paper (OK, a paper napkin) and cut out another one that was slightly larger using a light peach tank top that Paige grew out of. Then I used crochet thread (because I don't have embroidery thread) to hand stitch it to my sweater. So easy! Why didn't I think of it sooner?
Take care! I really do have some posts coming soon.
Love,
Disney
Love it... such a simple but gorgeous improvement!
ReplyDeleteok seriously if I could just DITTO everything you said! I say the sweater too but avoided it like the plague do to that hideous hot pink heart!! I'm SO loving the peach heart! It matches way better and really just looks way cuter! Wonder if I can still find that sweater...?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Looks cute!
ReplyDeleteYes I hate that pink color too, but its way cuter now! Good job!

Waaay cuter now. I would have had problems wearing it before too!
ReplyDeleteI like it so much better too. That was such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Now I'm gonna be looking through all my clothes that I don't wear because of an irksome little thing! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! It has character now. You are an original you should wear originals to! ^_^
ReplyDeleteLove that you used what you had on hand. I'm always doing things a little "different" because I'm either too lazy, or too cheap to run to the store and get the "correct" item. And my makeshift stuff works just as well.
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree it looks so much better! You are too cute!
ReplyDeleteMegan

ReplyDeleteOh, my, yes. A tiny slice of genius!
ReplyDeleteIt really does look better, I love it too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome : )
ReplyDeleteIn art class I learned that that shade of pink is not a happy color. Kind of like how yellow in a new born baby's room makes them cry. Which is probably why you don't like it.
I do have this same sweater! And I happen to love the pink, but this is way cute... I kind of want to do this, just for the different texture thing. Makes it look so special, instead of just an ON piece!
ReplyDeleteOh, how it makes my heart happy to learn you've got some more posts for us coming our way!
Much better! I love it too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! What a neat idea - you are pure genius. Seriously. I love all of your ideas here and have such fun going back through your archives for lots of cool ideas. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless and Happy Easter!

That's even cuter than when it started, so adorable and clever :)

What a great idea! I've thought about doing this before, but on a plain tee. I think it looks great on a sweater though! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable and I think it really gives it more character. :)

ReplyDeleteThat is really cute! Great job again! You never disappoint me. hehehe
ReplyDeleteDisney, I have been wanting to make a couple of Austrian Valances for my kids bedroom windows but I do not know how to, plus I am a beginner with the whole sewing business. But anyway, I found these directions online, but I do not understand them: http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_5013357_make-austrian-valance.html . I thought if you'd like to make one also and post about it for all of us dummies, I would love it sooo much! Of course you don't have to, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks for keeping up with your posts!!! I enjoy them very much. GC.
It's adorable!
ReplyDeleteIts totally true that a small change can bring new life to something and personalise it too :-) Love it!

ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea, Disney! And simple too, I love it! Going to go through my closet and see what I can jazz up :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute!! you could have worn it several more days in a row. Just come up with a way to change out the color of the heart each day! HA! I really liked this idea. I have not bought things that I liked because ONE color was not my favorite. I will try this!!! HAPPY EASTER.
ReplyDeleteWow, such a lovely idea. It looks so much more grown up than the pink ;).
ReplyDeleteThat just gave me a new idea for one of my own cardigans.
It looked too mechanical before, but the new heart with the handstitching adds a sweet, homemade touch. It's cute now! :)
ReplyDeleteSo simple but changes everything. I love it and may just have to borrow your idea
ReplyDeleteI like it so much better this way. I'm glad you took something that you had and made it a new favorite. Makes me want to peruse my own wardrobe to see how I can spiff it up.
ReplyDeletedefinitely more you... it gives it a vintage feel to it.
