"Artsy" Tee
Oh goodness. I love this shirt.
It looks ten times better in person.
I made it with this fantastic stuff that I discovered recently; it's like spray paint for clothes! Isn't that brilliant? It stays soft and you can even wash it! The possibilities are endless with this. I'm excited! It's called "Simply Spray".
On this shirt (which, by the way, is pink, not red.) I used red, pink, bright pink, and white. You certainly don't have to use that many different shades, but I like how it looks like I've worn this shirt while doing dozens of art projects. :o)
Start with a few swirls of each color, then go over it again with each color making big circles randomly, for a layered look. Don't forget to add cardboard or thick paper between your shirt layers!
Let it dry, and ta-da! You have all the benefits of looking like an artist, without actually knowing how to paint!
great idea. i just don't know, if we have something like apparel spray paint here in germany... I'll find out :)!
ReplyDeleteCool!!
ReplyDeletei paid $25 bucks for a shirt similar last year.
ReplyDeleteLove it! And I really don't think you could be any cuter!
ReplyDeleteCute and fun project. I love all of your different pictures of you being silly. I also love the enhanced ones.
ReplyDeleteCute! :)
ReplyDeleteWho takes you photos?
I love the "vintage" vibe to them...
Were you paid to endorse this or do you just really like it?
ReplyDeleteThat looks so great! I can't wait to try it. :) Where did you buy it?
ReplyDeleteSuper Cute!
ReplyDeleteAudrey: No, I wasn't paid, but they did send me some samples to try a while ago. I'm just now getting a chance to use them, and they are really fun! I can't wait to try stenciling :o)
ReplyDeleteBeverly: I think Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's and those types of places all sell it.
I've been wanting to make a shirt like this for my 10-year-old daughter. Thanks for showing me how to do it!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Disney. I have tons of shirts that look like that as I forget to get them when I start painting thus I ruin another. And now you are making them like that on purpose.? My kids would think that is so funny as they always ask me - mom aren't any of your shirts paint free?

I was just reading about this stuff in Sew Stylish last night! I want to try the tie-dying technique for sure.
ReplyDeleteI did something similar to this for my daughter during the Stanley Cup playoffs...just used regular spray paint...worked great and washes great too...I'll have to try this stuff too! Thanks Disney, love you and your ideas!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute shirt but I also love love love your flats. Where did you find those? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :o) The shoes came from Payless.
ReplyDeleteThat is very cute! I think the tulip brand has a spray bottle you can buy and then use different color paints with. I'm fairly new to using fabric paints, but I want to try this too!
ReplyDeleteDisney that is so cute & funny. I am not an artist, but I do paint objects & the walls in my house. Several of my shirts look similar though not as pretty colors. Wait til I tell my hubby that it really is fashionable to have paint splattered clothing. :) Love it!!
ReplyDeleteFee- you can get this in Germany http://www.simplyspray.de
ReplyDeleteHi Disney! I'm thinking this would be a great idea to disguise stains on clothes, to save them from being thrown away. I'm hoping I will be able to find this paint in NZ soon!
