Happy Birthday Paige!
Here are the photos I promised of Paige's third birthday from earlier this month!
I planned her party and made all the decor by hand, without spending any money! And all while during the "Celebrating MOM" event with Dana, so needless to say, I was a little worn out by it!
I had a perfectly picturesque outdoor party, with poms and paper flowers hanging from trees, quilts on the fence, vintage children's chairs and tables (which my husband dragged over from our church building), hanging buntings, outside playhouses, pink dress-up cases, and May Day poles. But it wasn't meant to be. Within an hour, it was completely ruined by insanely high winds. :o)
So we moved everything inside, and fluffed the wind-squished poms back up just in time for guests to arrive, so we could have a nice, cramped, poorly lit party, with bad photos. :o) The worst part? I didn't have time to take pictures of all the decor! Sad. So here are a few photos of what was left over when everyone left...
I made forty-thousand paper hats with fabric ruffles sewn on.
Tons of flower headbands.
Happy Birthday Buntings.
Tissue paper poms, and accordion paper flowers.
And even handmade fabric boutonnières.
Here is the only picture of me at the party. And isn't it.....lovely?
If you look in the background, you can kind of see some of the billions of paper plates that I trimmed around the edges with scalloped scissors. They were so cute!
And I had to include this photo of Paige and her friend/enemy from church. It perfectly captures the essence of their relationship. They go back and forth between playing and fighting constantly! I just know they're going to end up married :o)
So, it wasn't the most impressive party I've thrown, but Paige had lots of fun with her friends! And she's already talking about her next birthday. :o)
And since I couldn't bear the thought of throwing away all the things I spent weeks of late nights working on....I used them to decorate her room. :o)
Now I just need to change the words on the bunting!
Happy Birthday to my favorite little girl!
I love you, I love you, I love you. :o)
Everything is SO gorgeous! What a lucky, beautiful little girl. :]

Could you do a tutorial on the accordian flowers or a link to where you found them. I have made the poms ... is it roughly the same concept? Anyhow they are so cute on the wall I'd like to make some for our baby's nursery.
ReplyDeleteGreat party btw!
Wow! You did a lot of work and I am sure it payed off - your girl surely feels loved and special just as she is.
ReplyDeleteJust now as I was going through your post it came to my mind that when your girl grows up she can always look at your blog and see how much her mommy loved her even through those years where her memories fade.

You did an amazing job, Disney. Everything is so cute, festive and pretty. That was such a good idea to decorate her room with all the things you made for the party. Happy Birthday, Paige.

ReplyDeleteThe hats are so cute :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to reuse all the decoration for Paige's room. It looks lovely!
Everything looks beautiful! Don't feel bad that you had to bring everything indoors at the last possible minute - we had to cancel my little one's first birthday party due to a snow storm. :(
ReplyDeletetutorials please! The hat, the headband, I love it all and want to make some for my girlies!
ReplyDeleteWow! I am soooo impressed. What an adorable party for an adorable girl. Happy birthday Paige!

ReplyDeleteEverything looks great. Sorry about the wind - that sort of thing always feels so defeating, but you made it all so beautiful! I LOVE the little circle things on Paige's wall - how did you make them?
ReplyDeleteUmmm... you said this wasn't an impressive party?! I think just the fact that everything was handmade makes it like the most impressive and loving (and gorgeous) party ever!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Paige - Absolutely beautiful. Disney you did a fantastic job on everything and Paige will remember this for a long time. Tutorials on everything would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Trimming the plates is such a great idea. I would love to do that for my daughter's first birthday!
ReplyDeleteoh disney! you are such a creative lady!! i LOVE the bunting, scalloped plates, pom poms, headbands, everything!! it all looks sooo pretty and you can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday paige!! Enjoy your day
ReplyDelete(feliz cumpleaños from Spain)
super cute! my favorite part is the ruffled hats!
ReplyDeleteDid you just cover cardboard hats with fabric? Is your bunting fabric? I've made paper ones before and they get smashed/crumpled so I can't re-used them. LOVELY! My daughter's 4th b-day is on June 30th and I was just today pondering what decorations I want to make. I know I want to do the poms, but hae never made them before.
ReplyDeletewhat a cute party!!
ReplyDeleteDisney!!
ReplyDeleteYour posts make me smile. A lot!! :)
I love the fresh look of your photos and your little girl is simply adorable!
This was a fabulous and lovingly done party, and one can totally tell by the details! :)
Love,
Bird
I, too, have learned the wisdom of party decor that can be used as decor after the ball is over. My daughter's bedroom is decorated with tissue paper pom-poms I made for her 1st birthday, and a sweet fabric bunting my mom made for her 3rd.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to go "all out" for her birthday. So far she has been happy with a house full of people who love her, a few simple homemade decorations, and yummy mama-made cupcakes. I hope she will continue to be content with that. Somehow giving her that kind of party feeds MY soul in a way that a character-themed party from the party store never could.
Happy Birthday, Paige! :)
I just love having a girl :) Thank you for all the ideas for my little one's next b-day! It looks really cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the paper accordion type flowers for her wall! Nice job Disney!
ReplyDeleteooooh can we have a headband tutorial? or a paper accordian tutorial? or a boutonierre tutorial? or a tutorial for everything?? can you tell i think everything was beautiful?
ReplyDeleteyou are such a creative lady

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Paige!!!! She's just gorgeous and the perty is very impressive!! You did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to the queen of cuteness :)
ReplyDeleteJust amazing. She looks very happy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a spectacular party for that beautiful lil' Paige! I love the pompoms & accordian flowers! And I love taht you are a crazy mom (like so many of us) that wanted your girl's b-day to be perfect! Even if that did mean scalloping the paper plates:) Thanks for making me smile like always Disney!!!
ReplyDeleteI just remembered some of the time-consuming things I've done for my daughter's b-day. I cut butterflies out of pretty vellums, cut 2 little slits in the middle and put them on straws to decorate them. I also put hydrangea petals on some. I just cut the holes bigger in the middle of the flower pieces and put the straw through them. I LOVE hand-making party supplies!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYou did such a beautiful job and I adore your skirt - so amazing!! I'm very jealous! ~Sam
