Do You Want to be Featured on Ruffles and Stuff?
I once read that the worst thing you could do for your blog is link to other blogs.
The article advised that linking to other blogs would take traffic away from your own.
Well I say pooey to that!
Craft bloggers are sort of like a little virtual family (corny, I know), and I'm excited if I'm able to help out another blogger! And that's why I've been thinking that I would like to start featuring other blogs on mine. Especially smaller blogs who need more traffic.
But I would like to keep my blog mainly about my personal projects, so I came up with this idea!
I'm going to create a space to the right on my sidebar, and every day I will feature a different blogger's creation. I prefer that they be tutorial's, or at least be a project that you are able to figure out easily from the photos, but the occasional "look what I did!" post is welcome, too! :o)
So if you have any ideas/how-to's that you would like me to feature, please email me at: saltofthe_earth(at)hotmail(dot)com. (don't be shy!) And don't forget to get the code for my new "featured on" button!
*Just a little note: Due to my passionate desire to please the Lord, I am not in good conscience able to promote blogs who have immoral conduct on them. Profanity, pictures of you in your underwear....you know :o) I've never really seen that in a craft blog before, but I thought I would throw that out there, just in case!
Love your little note! You just never know and it's always better to be clear about these things :)
ReplyDeleteI think linking to other blogs is good because then they link to you, and your web rankings increase! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Disney! You're awesome! I love this post and your heart to help others!
ReplyDeleteCute blog and I think Disney is the coolest name ever!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that "craft bloggers are like a virtual family". There is something about creating together and sharing the same passion that brings us together.
Also, the article you read about "linking to other blogs takes traffic from your own" is definitely a fallacy. That's all I do on Ucreate!
Wow! Thank you so much for featuring my project! You're so great!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea and I will be keeping track of your blog to see the other tutes you feature. I am adicted to looking at sewing and craft tutorials online. I am working on writing up a few of my own. I haven't yet figured out how to put things on the side bar. But I know I will soon just haven't had the time to look into it yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant addition...you can either show your strength by pushing people down or by pulling them up. I am a firm believer that by helping others you not only show your strength, you show who you are. Well done. (And honestly, who isn't helped by a ruffle! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet! I agree, I feel like I have bloggy friends and family out there. And I love it!!
ReplyDeletei would love to be featured!! I havbe a post on making a childs apron & I am getting ready todo one for making a dress w/a onesie!!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and I think that it's so amazing that you are willing to get a little more traffic into a blog that doesnt get very much. I just started my blog, and hardly anyone goes. You're blog is so amazing and I felt so great when you commented on my post on Wardrobe Refashion,so thank you. I really appreciate any comment and any traffic. As for your note, I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet for thinking of others.

I love this idea, one of my fav things to do is to find new blogs
ReplyDeleteI just love all that you do on your blog...so I am passing on an award...you can check it out at mamathompson.blogspot.com! Thanks for sharing all your talent!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!! Your jewelry is so awesome and the clothing you make for your daughter is so beautiful and unique. I hope that I can be so creative with my daughter's clothing as she gets older. Thanks for sharing all your creativity!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being willing to share the traffic love. You're awesome and your blog is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! I just thought I would tell you that linking is always a really great idea! You can only loose traffic when people click on the link and then never come back to explore more of your own site. The Cure: Just make sure that your link opens up into a new window! (I noticed none of yours do...) There is an html code you can add, but this comment box wont let me add it to be able to show you. I'm sure you can google it to figure it out, or you could email me and I could send you an example if you are interested! good luck!
